The Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests will entered Stage 1 Fire Restrictions Thursday evening.
Fireworks and other pyrotechnic devices are always prohibited on National Forests.
Stage I fire restrictions prohibit the following:
- Igniting, building, maintaining, or using a fire, including charcoal and briquettes, outside a fire structure that is provided by the Forest Service within a designated fire circle.
- Smoking, except within an enclosed vehicle or building, a developed recreation site, or while stopped in an area at least three feet in diameter that is cleared of all flammable material.
Exemptions to the restrictions include the following:
- Persons using a stove or grill that is solely fueled by pressurized liquid petroleum fuels.
- Persons with a permit specifically exempting them from this order or a written determination by a Forest Service authorized officer that a permit is not required.
- Any federal, state, or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or firefighting resource in the performance of an official duty.
