My Grandmother was 3 at the time having been born in 1880. Looks like Mustaches were the Fashion. If you recall the BAT MASTERSON tv series starring Gene Barry it wasn't authentic because he didn't wear a Mustache. This is the REAL DEAL. Doesn't look like anyone is wearing a pistola in this picture.
